Agrotica sets the pace for the primary sector and shapes the space and time of new development

The 31st International Exhibition of Agricultural Machinery, Equipment & Supplies inaugurated

“The primary sector has a future, Greek land has strength and its people have value. And as long as there is planning, cooperation and belief in our capabilities, despite the difficulties, there is hope and perspective.” With this message, the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Mr Kostas Tsiaras, inaugurated this evening the 31st International Exhibition of Agricultural Machinery, Equipment & Supplies “Agrotica”. Referring to the exhibition, Mr Tsiaras underlined that for many years Agrotica has been setting the pace for the primary sector, shaping the space and time of new developments and providing the opportunity for innovation to meet real production and real people. “Here in Thessaloniki and at Agrotica 2026, we are not simply here to inaugurate an agricultural exhibition; we are here to speak honestly about the present and with confidence about the future of the agricultural sector,” stressed the Minister of Rural Development and Food.

The active contribution of Agrotica to shaping the future of the agricultural sector was highlighted by the Regional Governor of Central Macedonia, Ms Athina Aidona, describing it as the most important agricultural exhibition in Southeastern Europe and the Balkans. She also stressed that the primary sector is part of the identity of Central Macedonia, its history and tradition, but also one of the key pillars of the Region’s modern development strategy.

An ideal springboard for strengthening the extroversion of Greek businesses, as well as a driver of innovation for the agricultural economy, an exhibition that offers opportunities for contacts, partnerships, information, as well as for forming a clear picture of the future of the sector, is how the Chairman of the Board of TIF-HELEXPO, Mr Christos Tsentemeidis, described Agrotica. He also noted that the aim of the company’s management is to have more exhibitions like Agrotica, which has gained a prominent position on the European exhibition map, while also constituting a barometer for the agricultural economy in Greece. He added that in the new TIF, in the company’s new exhibition facilities, Agrotica will be further enhanced.

Agrotica proves that the agricultural community has the strength, knowledge and will to move forward, as stated by the Deputy Mayor of Innovation, Startups, Volunteering and Youth of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, Mr Spyros Tzelepis, while also underlining the role of Thessaloniki as a bridge connecting production with markets.

The 31st Agrotica, which will run until 15 March, hosts 1,520 exhibitors from 42 countries, has covered 38,000 m2 of net exhibition space and has recorded a 49% increase in international participations compared to 2024.

Tomorrow morning, within the framework of its parallel events, the proceedings of the 11th Panhellenic Conference titled “From the seed of knowledge… to the fruit of innovation” will begin, co-organised by TIF-HELEXPO and the School of Agriculture of AUTH, also honouring the historic anniversary of 100 years since its establishment.

The opening hours of Agrotica are as follows: Friday and Sunday: 10:00–19:00 and Saturday: 10:00–20:00.
