Today’s Press Conference

The Chairman of the Board of TIF-HELEXPO, Mr. Christos Tsentemeidis, referred to the significant importance of Agrotica for the agricultural sector during today’s press conference ahead of the opening of this year’s event, while at the same time presenting the objectives of the new administration of the company.

“The key word is ‘transformation’. Transformation in three axes: transformation in the redevelopment of TIF, which is the largest urban redevelopment project in Northern Greece, transformation in corporate governance and transformation at the level of business operation,” he noted.

Referring specifically to the redevelopment, he made it known that this period we are at the stage of updating the architectural studies of the project, with the aim that the tender for its construction will be announced this summer and consequently the selection of the contractor will take place at the latest in the 4th quarter of 2026.

“We aim at the start of construction works at the beginning of 2027, with a completion horizon of three years,” he stressed, underlining that the new TIF will acquire modern facilities and will remain a living cell of the urban fabric, hosting exhibition, conference and cultural activities, while at the same time contributing decisively to the improvement of the quality of life of the citizens of Thessaloniki. Referring to the park that will be developed as part of the redevelopment, he spoke of 120,000 m2 compared to 7,000 m2 which are today the scattered green spaces at TIF.

From his side, the CEO of TIF-HELEXPO, Mr. Andreas Mavrommatis, referred to the particular emphasis that Agrotica gives to the highlighting of smart farming technologies and digital applications, with a strong presence of exhibitors presenting the most modern solutions for agriculture, noting that this year’s event gathers the top multinational and domestic companies of the sector.

Presenting the increased figures of the 31st Agrotica, Mr. Mavrommatis stressed that beyond the quantitative data, the event attributes strategic importance to content, innovation and the customer experience of visitors.

“The multitude of parallel events and conferences of bodies and companies is at the centre of the event, as we seek the exhibition to function as a platform of networking and production of knowledge,” he noted, while he stressed that the contribution of Association of Machinery Importers & Representatives (SEAM), Hellenic Association of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers (EKAGEM) and Hellenic Fertilizers’ Association (S.P.E.L), is decisive so that Agrotica remains an event

harmonized with the real needs of the market and timelessly useful for the national economy.

With 40 of its members covering 16,500 m2 of exhibition space, that is more than 40% of the exhibition, SEAM participates in Agrotica, a fact that highlights the importance the Association gives to the event, as stated by its Vice President, Mr. Christodoulos Bozatzidis. He described Agrotica as a point of reference both for agricultural production and agricultural technology in our country, while he also referred to the long-standing close relationship of the Association with TIF-HELEXPO.

“This year Agrotica is not simply a commercial event, it is a decisive moment for the future of the agricultural world,” noted the President of EKAGEM, Mrs. Dimitra Emmanouilidou. After describing the difficult situation experienced by the sector, she called for the strengthening of the institutional role of Agrotica as a platform of consultation between the agricultural sector and the State, stressing that the event has always been a step of expression for farmers.

The Vice President of SPEL, Mr. Konstantinos Oraiopoulos, underlined the long-standing support of Agrotica which is one of the largest exhibitions in Europe and the largest in Greece by SPEL, noting that the Association supports it both through the actions of its members and institutionally.

“Agrotica is for our members a platform to continue showing new technologies and for our Association a platform to participate in the public dialogue,” he added.
